About Me!
Hi, Everyone!
My name is Katie Vincent and I am a freshman at Florida State this year. I am currently working toward becoming an official Elementary Education major and am hoping to apply to the College of Education next Spring. I have loved getting involved in on-campus activities and was so excited to have the opportunity to rush this past Fall. I am a part of the sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma and have loved getting to know all of my new sisters! Along with Kappa, I am also a part of the Women's Glee Club and the a cappella group, The AcaBelles. A fun fact about me is that I am scuba diving certified and had the opportunity to dive a shipwreck in the Florida Keys a few summers ago!
I have little experience using technology in an educational setting. In middle school, we had iPads in each classroom that we could use to write papers or research different things. It was definitely very helpful to have that resource right at our fingertips! Ending high school online and now starting college online has also allowed me to widen my experience with different resources, such as Zoom, Microsoft Word, and Google. I am very excited to be able to learn more about technology through this course and have different sources that I can use when I am in my own classroom one day.
From the start of my college career, it has been fun to watch my personal learning network grow through the people that I have met and the new resources that I am learning how to use. Online, a few resources that I regularly use are Zoom, through which I can access my classes and other organizations, Canvas, through which I can see what assignments I need to get done during the week and message my professors and peers, and GroupMe, through which I can connect with classmates.
Offline, a few resources that I have discovered are mentors who are already in the College of Education and have helped me figure out which classes to take to prepare me for applying to the Elementary Education major, my professors who I can go to with any question that I may have, and the library where I can go to study or find different books that will help me learn more about what it means to become a teacher. I am so thankful for the PLN resources that I already have and cannot wait to expand my network even more!
So that's me! I can't wait for this semester with all of you!

Oh my gosh, I am also in Women's Glee Club this semester! :):) what voice part are you?
